Frozen Floors

Frozen food storage facilities have unique challenges. When they are constructed, they require special consideration of the soil below the floors. Unless a system is installed and maintained to keep the soil from freezing, ice lenses may develop in the soil creating a soil heave. In some cases, the soil heave can progress without ever reaching a new equilibrium. N-J has performed flozen soil investigations, including performing elevations surveys. In conjuntion with a geotechnical engineer, N-J has assessed the extent of soil movement to assist the owner in understanding structural consequences of potential options.
