Retail Shop

When a severe snow storm hit, N-J personnel performed an investigation of damage to a single-story retail shop. The masonry and steel structure suffered severe damage including bowing of the the roof framing, and partial collapse of the ceiling, which alerted the occupants to the problem with the building structure. Since no drawings were available, N-J personnel performed field measurements of the existing framing. Using the field-verified dimensions, the existing framing was analyzed. It was determined that the structure had less than 1/3 of the required capacity in accordance with the building code.

After completing the investigation, the client subsequently had N-J perform a repair design that included removal and replacement of the existing roof structure with a new roof structure. N-J performed field work during construction.
