Chillers/Cooling Towers

When replacing large mechanical units, such as chillers and cooling towers, there are often a number of unique structural challenges. Sometimes the new units are heavier than the existing units, especially when the Owner is trying to address existing mechanical systems that are not properly maintaining interior environmental conditions. Even when the overall weight load is the same, the footprint of the load is generally different, resulting in changes to the stresses on the structural framing. Finally, there are often potential problems with moving the mechanical equipment without overloading the structure during the equipment changeover. N-J personnel have designed specialized systems to spread out the weight, thereby eliminating costly expenses associated with shoring the structure during equipment transportation.
